Garden & Compost Coaching

$100 • 60 minute session

  • It all begins with a free 20-minute phone consultation to learn more about your goals and needs moving forward.

Based on your goals, we can plan a time to walk your land together to discuss what plants are already growing in your yard, and become familiar with your creative boundaries (such as light patterns, animal footpaths, weed and pest pressures, and soil structure). You can share your vision and challenges, and we will create a plan for you to move forward.

If you have a new garden project in mind, or are working to revitalize an existing area, we can plan out a process that works with your goals, budget, time, aesthetic, and physical/mental boundaries.

My hope is to empower you to achieve your dreams and learn exactly what it takes to get there! Many coaching sessions last about 1-2 hours to work out a particular project.

  • If there are particular tasks or methods you would like to learn, we can do some work together to demonstrate proper techniques.

While my consultations do not include landscaping work, I can provide recommendations for landscaping companies that are great to work with!

  • If you are working on one particular project, most consultation sessions will take 1-2 hours, and you’ll have what you need to move forward. After each session, I’ll follow up with a list of resources and an overview of what was discussed during the consultation for you to refer back to.

After our consultation, if you are struggling to bring your dreams into reality or things just aren’t working out, support can be ongoing, and additional consultation fees may be appropriate depending on the situation.

I’d love to continue working through challenges as they arise during the season, with advice and additional direction on how to overcome whatever happens! These following sessions can be done over the phone or at your convenience.

  • There is no such thing as being “born with a green thumb.” Learning about how to grow plants is a process, and some plants will struggle or die along the way, so if you know the key takeaways from those lessons you can improve your process.

All you need is curiosity and a drive to get better! Getting clear on the early steps and what to watch out for makes you prepared for the inevitable mistakes and learning opportunities. As your garden coach, I can teach you the language of gardening and save you time and energy in the learning process.

  • Absolutely! Anyone who wants to learn is welcome at the session, including young kids who want to play their part!

  • Yes! These additional services involve additional time or materials, and include an added service fee.

Soil Testing: Not available when the ground is frozen. Receive hands-on assistance with collecting soil samples, sending it in for testing at UMN’s Soil Lab, and interpreting the results together, which will better inform you what natural fertilizers and methods are best for you • $45+ (dependent on tests selected)

Landscape Mapping: Receive a detailed map of your yard including plant names, current structures, future projects, and intended changes discussed during a session • $40

Bokashi Composting Starter Kit: Receive all the materials you need to set up your indoor bokashi compost system, which allows you to “pre-compost” food scraps throughout the winter months and enhance your outdoor compost quality • $60

Each session includes applicable lists and guides, secondary resources, and educational materials to give you a richer understanding of your garden and compost projects.
