FAQs

  • Can I hire you to take care of my garden?

My coaching services are to assist and uplift you to do the gardening work yourself or with your family and friends! I will provide hands-on demonstration and we can practice skills together, depending on what types of things we are discussing and the time of year. With many clients, I may visit several times over the course of the year to talk through and provide feedback on actively evolving projects, or particular challanges that come up.

  • What if I don't know what my garden or composting goals are?

It all starts with a general conversation about what is exciting to you about growing. I can help you understand what you want out of it all, and help you frame it in terms of achievable goals entirely within your abilities and space. Don’t worry about having concrete goals right off the bat, unless they are clear to you.

  • It's already mid/late summer - am I too late to start working on a garden?

It’s never too late - truly! Although springtime is a flurry of garden excitement, seeds and plants can be put in the ground almost year round. Based on what you want to grow, I can provide detailed information about what will best succeed in the current time of season.

  • I want to grow more indoors. Can we talk about house plants, hydroponics, or other indoor options?

Yes! Indoor plantings are completely different from outdoor gardens, and require more nuanced care because our indoor environments can be less than ideal. We can discuss what it is you’re dreaming up, and what it would take to succeed and avoid bug infestations, nutrient deficiencies, and light depravation.

  • How expensive is it to start gardening?

Like any hobby or interest, you can invest as much money as you want into it, but there are obvious ways to save money. For example, buying items that last, building items or structures that carry over year after year, and being resourceful with free items available to you can all go a long way. Learning how to understand what you already have, what you need, and where to find it is something we can discuss in a coaching session.

  • Are there any grants or funds available for a residential garden?

Yes! We can discuss all the options out there and what might make the most sense for you and where you live.
